Abstract

This study employed Parse's research method to investigate the meaning and structure of psychiatric nursing simulation experiences among third-year nursing students at K University, using standardized patients. This qualitative study involved eight participants, and data collection took place from April 10 to 28, 2023. Parse¡¯s research approach guided the analysis, which involved dialogical engagement, extraction-synthesis, and heuristic interpretation. The findings of this study indicated that psychiatric nursing simulation, using standardized patients, led to three core concepts: the fundamental consideration of communication, the practice of communication response to establish therapeutic relationships, and self-growth through realistic experiences. In conclusion, the application of Parse's research method facilitated the expression of psychiatric nursing simulation experiences with standardized patients, resulting in genuine presence and dialogical engagement. This, in turn, empowered participants' overall experience.
